8 tips that make camping trips simpler

All-natural bug repellant
Throw a bunch of sage into the campfire to ward off flies and mosquitos.

Ditch the itch!
Try rubbing some stick deodorant on bug bites to stop the itching.

Eureka!
Looking for a way to light your entire tent?  Fill a plastic jug with water and put your flashlight behind it. Presto! Soft, diffuse light where you need it!

Handy fire starters
If you’re out of kindling, try starting your campfire with potato chips. If you’d rather eat the chips, bring along some dryer lint instead! It really works.

Fire flash!
Store matches in a small Mason jar and glue some sandpaper on the lid to strike them on.

Coffee’s in the bag
Try steeping coffee like you would tea: place ground coffee in a filter, tie it securely with string and dunk it in boiled water. Coffee simplified.

It’s seasoning season
Transport your spices in empty Tic Tac boxes. Or use plastic drinking straws and melt the ends shut using the flame from a lighter.

Stay chill
To keep food cold, fill plastic containers with salt water and put them in your freezer: the salt makes the ice last way longer.
